What is an RBT?
The Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) is a paraprofessional who is primarily responsible for implementation of behavior-analytic services. It is a nationally recognized certification granted by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB) to persons who, after completing 40-hours of training, passing a competency assessment and a proctored exam, can work with children on the autism spectrum.
The RBT practices under close and ongoing supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) and/or a Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst (BCaBA).
The RBT is a position responsible for delivering direct instruction, implementing behavior plans developed by the BCBA or BCaBA, collecting data and maintaining a professional relationship with parents and the community.
Please visit the BACB website at https://bacb.com/rbt-requirements/ for more information about obtaining an RBT credential.
